Divine Hat Part 2 & 3

Well since I needed to tweak the pattern
more to fit my small head (21 inches) I
frogged my burgundy hat I made a few
weeks back and tried the Divine again.

Starting with the magic circle this time,
I only did 3dc's shells thru row 10
then added the ribbing based on the pattern.
Following the pattern with 4dc' made the hat
way too big and I had to cut off 6 rows not
to mention go down a hook size to I & G.

I love this hat!!!

Red hat 11 rows, Burgundy hat 10 rows of 3dc's

Just finished the blue one also...I'm on a roll!!
The blue hat was done through row 9 but I
think it is just a skosh small like the red
is a skosh big.  Both are wearable but the
burgundy fits the best!

Divine Hat by Sarah Arnold

After seeing a couple pics posted on Crochetville
by Alaina about the Divine Hat I decided to check it out on

This is an easy & fun pattern with such great results!
Definitely a go to hat.

I made mine in Red Heart Super Saver (an old 8 oz skein)
of 0390 Red Hot!  I used an I & G hook which is a
size smaller than the pattern calls for.
I crocheted through row 13 then added all but the last
row of ribbing listed and my hat was too big!
I plan to frog it back two rows and try the ribbing again.
I'll post pics anyway because it turned out so
beautiful that it's surely worth taking a peek at.
By the way, my head measures barely 21" (small).

Red Heart Super Saver Red Hot 0390 (I & G hook)

And gosh how could I forget....
Today is my 24th anniversary!!!
Yay! What a great feeling!
(I seriously hope to make 75)
:)  :)  :)  :) :)  :)  :)  :)

Updated:
I frogged my hat back to row 9
and continued on with fpdc and 3dc's
through row 11.  Then added the ribbing
following the pattern instructions.
Here's how it turned out!

I ended up with an 8" tall hat
which would be the longest I'd
want it without folding the brim.
It's a little snug, again ok but I may
do the last row of clusters with a
fpdc & 4dc's so the ribbing
isn't quite as tight.  Just a little
more tweaking and it should be
PERFECT!!!

Something Sunday & Crochet

Crochet Bag

 My 3 favorite things!
My Apple!
My Yarn!
My Frap!
yes it would be in that order

Neat Ripple on my Hook

Since I haven't crocheted a bag for myself,
I've had to use what's on hand instead.
This bag was a door gift from a convention
I attended 9 yrs ago for CTMH.
(Close To My Heart ~ Stamping)
I've since changed hobbies!!!  :)
My stamps sat for about 8 yrs and
I never really used them.  I guess my
heart wasn't really into it!

I also wanted to show how simple
I am at the moment.  I carry my yarn
in plastic grocery bags to keep it clean.

5 (1.9mm) Boye Steel Hook

As for the "NEW" hook....
I had to move up a few sizes from a 7 to a 5
in order to get the hang of it better.
Thread crocheting is tough for this beginner
and since I joined the Snowflake CAL
I needed to get this butt in gear and
quit anguishing over the size 7 hook.

Happy Sunday, Happy Hooking!

TWC & Spokane!

Spokane made it on The Weather Channel

Spokane Washington

Yay!   For the Pacific Northwest!

February 14th 2011 into the evening hours...

I was sitting here surfing my blog buddies when
I heard the Weather Channel mention my
home town.  I flew off my chair to grab the camera
and catch it in action.  It's not very often we're
mentioned so it was quite a treat!  Or so I think, LOL!

This cartoon is from a fellow friend blogger.
Check her out here....

Have a great day everyone!

Snowflake Monday (3rd)

YA!  I got another one done!

However I will be doing this one again since
my very beginning branch cluster was
off center.  Also I'm trying really hard to
loosen my stitches which is coming along slowly!

You can find the pattern here...

Something Sunday!!!

I've been thinking a lot over the last year about my
"old" blog & "new" blog.
How can I incorporate them, make them fun,
and share parts about me!

If I kept my new blog only crochet
(which I originally was going to do)
how boring that would be,
yet if I talked about others things
I may loose some of you.

So I've decided to have specific days.
Starting with.... Something Sunday!
This will showcase something different,
fun, or picture perfect but
doesn't have to be crochet specific!

Smile! You've found your Cache

Gosh and to think I missed this one first time around

Small Cache but not a Micro!

Pretty Clever Spot

Proof that I was here....

I haven't invested in a GPS system yet
but maybe sometime in the future
if I stick with it.  We'll see.......

This makes me want to just jump on in...

The middle scarf turned out real cute!
It's a seed stitch going long ways
with tassels on the end!

I really had fun making these and feel
blessed to be able to donate to such
an Awesome Project!  :) :) :)

Thanks for letting me help!!!

New Toy ~ The Rice Cooker

Zojirushi Rice Cooker

Micom NS-VGC05 (3 cups)

So what does Micom mean?

It has its own brain!  So how cool is that?

Who would have thought there's so much to learn about Rice!
Rice in the husk, bran layer, chaff, albumen, germ...
brown rice, semi-brown rice, white rice, rinse-free rice.

Three Ladies Jasmine Rice

We stopped at Lee Lee's Asian Grocery Store
to pick up our #25 lbs bag of rice and I must
say, when we walked in the front door
I about died!  The smell of

FISH

about knocked me out!
Steve and Emily said my lips turned white
and they were worried about me!

But the trooper I am roughed it out
and purchased my rice for $20 then
high tailed it outathere!

Measuring Cup & Paddle
Which by the way is not a "true" cup
it's actually 5.8 oz. (green) and 6.1 oz. (clear)

After you rinse the rice (in the same bowl) then
fill water to the appropriate water line.
Select the correct setting and
push the cook button.

Then it's music to my ears!

Literally!
(Video's removed not loading properly)
You have YUMMY Rice!

Wanted to show size compared to other
appliances to give you a feel of how
little counter space it takes.

If you remember the previous post
I talked about the ice crusher, magic bullet and

I make for my treat!

So if you're wondering about purchasing a rice cooker....

YES!

I highly recommend it to everyone!!!

Part 2 ~ The Burrito....

Coming soon!!!
