Project Linus and the V Stitch

Couple thoughts that have been floating through my mind off and on
for many years, so I thought I'd share...

I've always wanted to do some kind of volunteer work but since I was
busy raising my own kids, I was selfish with my time.  Not a bad thing
just the truth!  Now that the kids are grown, the itch is still there and
you know what that means....

I've incorporated my latest hobby into something that gives back to
the community.  Yep, I crochet blankets/afghans for Project Linus.
This is a great way for me to volunteer anytime because I can crochet
anywhere; at home mostly but you can take it to the park, on the bus,
waiting for an appt. where ever, when ever!  Plus I can control my
volunteer time and donation.  To me this is a perfect fit!

So who gets these blankets/afghans???  Children!  From premie
newborns up to teenagers!  So for now, and maybe forever, I've found
my place to volunteer that fits my lifestyle and their needs.

Happy Hooking!

a great accessory for many outfits.

On My Hook...

On my hook right now is a Soft Navy/White Flannelghan.  This is made
using two strands of yarn so it's extra thick!  I'm using Caron One
Pounders with a N hook & dc stitch.

It's not quite finished as I have to sew the panels
together and finish the border.  This was originally
going to my son but now is staying here with hubby.

This pattern is by RoseRed and you can find her blog at....

Thanks RoseRed...much appreciated!!!

Project Linus & Raffle

Well I turned in the last blanket to
Project Linus and got in the raffle for more yarn.
Was lucky to get 6 skeins of light sage so
I'm splitting it up and using 2 skeins
in 3 separate blankets.  The first will have
buff and burgundy with it, the second will have
carrot and variegated aspen print and the
3rd will have cream.  How exciting!!!

Emily's Afghan & Earthquake

Large Solid Granny Square
Left over yarn for another project
Wow! Finally done!  I think it turned out real nice
and Emily's happy.  It measures right about 60"
square.  I used about 7 skeins of red heart and yes I
over bought.  A lot!  I'm still learning how to gauge
how much to buy.  I started with 13 skeins making
sure my dye lots matched knowing this is important
for the project to look good.  I'll post a pic to show
how much is left over.  I'm very surprised.

Here's what I started with:  2 skeins 16 oz. each
& 9 skeins of 7 oz. each.

Looks like I'll be starting my first Project Linus
blanket.  I'm thinking of a ripple...yes?

Also on another note...Yes we felt the

EARTHQUAKE!

Holy Smokes what a feeling!  I'm sitting in my
big comfy chair crocheting and then everything
starts moving.  It was the most bizarre feeling.
Almost made me feel motion sickness.  So
where and what???   It was 20 miles south of the
U.S. border in Baja Mexico and originally called a
6.9 on the richter scale but upgraded to a 7.2 ~ dang!
